Emily Kramer-Golinkoff, an adult with cystic fibrosis and the Co-Founder of Emily's Entourage, an innovative 501(c)3 foundation that accelerates research for new treatments and a cure for nonsense mutations of CF, describes her experience growing up with CF and the heart-shattering realization that she is a part of the approximately 10% of the CF community that is ineligible for CFTR modulators. She discusses the promise of science and innovation, each individual’s power to create transformative change, and the unique solidarity and commitment of the whole CF community to create a better future for everyone with CF. Transplantation of Gene Edited Upper Airway Basal Stem Cells - Sriram Vaidyanathan, PhD

Dr. Sriram Vaidyanathan, a postdoctoral scholar at the Porteus lab at Stanford University, presents results from CFRI-funded research on identifying biomaterials that enable the transplantation of gene corrected airway stem cells to treat CF. He presents findings from experiments transplanting upper airway basal stem cells into immunocompromised mice using fibrinogen-based scaffolds. This presentation was part of CFRI's Virtual 35th National CF Education Conference on July 30, 2022.

Understanding Gastrointestinal Cancers in Cystic Fibrosis – Christine Hachem, MD

Dr. Christine Hachem, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Saint Louis University, presents an overview on GI cancers with cystic fibrosis. With improvements in therapies for CF, there has been an increase in GI cancers in people with CF, the most common of which is colorectal cancer. Dr. Hachem details the epidemiology, etiology and risk factors for GI cancers in CF, as well as current screening recommendations.
